Chocolate and team work

On Tuesday July 13th I arrived I little early than usual to Susan's Healthy Gourmet because my math teacher let us out early. I was looking forward to what my task would be for the day. Carissa asked Tracey if XAN Confections needed help packaging. Tracey said yes so I put my hair cap on and went to work with Steve, the shipping manager, from XAN Confections. Since I love chocolate, I was delighted to package it! I was working along with two other employees; it was a team effort. One of the main things that I have learned so far is that nothing gets done at Susan's Healthy Gourmet without team effort.

Quick results don't stick!

Often when people call us in the office they are looking for a quick fix. They want to lose weight in a short amount of time. They tell us they consume more than 2,000 calories a day and want to start on the 1,125 calories a day plan. Our nutritionist and staff here at SHG believe that is not going to keep the weight off or maintain any weight loss. Shocking your system can be harmful to your body and leave you hungry. If you are left hungry it is easier to cheat or binge eat at your next meal. If you start at a higher caloric intake and slowly reduce the caloric intake the weight will come off in a healthier way. Leaving you feeling satisfied and happy with results that can last long term.

Gloom to Bloom

It's finally summer time, yet I found myself waking up this morning to a sky full of clouds and gloom. There is nothing like a gloomy day to make you want to stay in bed and watch movies all day. Yet, I knew I had to get out of bed and get to work, but did I really have to get out of bed a half hour early to go for a walk? The gloom hung over me and my thoughts went to the idea "do I really need to go walking today it's not nice outside anyway". After a little coaxing I finally got out of bed and by this time I was already awake. I have to say after that walk I did feel better. Not only did I feel more awake but the breeze outside was cool, and that gloom was actually kind of refreshing rather then the hot sun we are use to here in Sothern California. The thing I find most important about making goals for myself even small ones like walking before work is that when I keep them and take the action I am not only feeling good with my outsides but I feel proud on the inside as well. So embrace that gloom and choose to have a great day no matter what clouds hang over your head...
