Nutrition and Fitness Oath

I absolutely love this! Our old Sales Manager Jenn came in one morning and told me this was something her daughter had to read every morning at school and she just knew I would love it! I came acrossed it this morning and I just had to share it with you all.

      Nutrition and Fitness Oath

On my honor, I will try to do my best to keep myself healthy, strong and make nutritious choices. I will exercise daily to keep myself in shape. I will say no to unhealthy foods. I will practice good hygiene. Whenever possible I promise to help other people stay healthy.

Now wouldn't it be nice if we could all start the day with this kind of oath...

Warm weather brings fun outdoor activities!

I don't know about you, but I love this time of the year. It's not too cold and it's not too hot, it's perfect for enjoying the outdoors! I love doing things outside like, running, walking, playing soccer and camping but you name it, I love it. There is only a certain time frame I really enjoy before it gets to hot to handle. The other weekend I enjoyed my first walk/run of the season around the local lake and I got to take my son Blake on his first stroller ride around the lake, we had a blast! I enjoy working out at the gym but if I had my choice I would be enjoying my outside activities everyday. It's just so nice to take a deep breath in and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us... I know, corny but true! I would love to hear about your plans for the spring season, what outdoor activities will you be enjoying?!?

Kinks No More!!

The worst way to start the morning is when you wake up, move the wrong way and realize that you have just pinched a nerve in your back! Yikes!! I saw stars this morning as I tried to get up with flames running through my lower back. Back pain is debilitating and can really put a “kink” in your day. Funny thing happened when I got to work and checked my email; I received a newsletter that talked about back pain and how to prevent it. I love when stuff like that happens! So I thought I would pass on some of the tips in case anyone out there suffers from the occasional kink!

Before you nod off, do a quick posture check. There are three sleep positions that help ease strain on your head, neck, and back.

*If you sleep on your back, put a small pillow under your knees.

*If you sleep on your side, avoid tucking your neck and chin into the fetal position.

*If you sleep on your stomach, put a pillow under one side of your body so your head and neck aren’t strained.

Back to the Basics

I just want to reiterate how fantastic a peanut butter and jelly sandwich can be. For lunch I eat SHG food, and I’ll go out and grab stuff but it ends up becoming the chore of the day. When we are all eating together, trying to agree on a place to eat for lunch is sometimes impossible. Today we all agreed that a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was the only thing that would cure our lunch blues. It was not only fast and inexpensive but healthy too. Reduced fat peanut butter, strawberry jelly on whole wheat! You really can’t beat it. Not only was this sandwich really good, it was like a blast from the past when I would get a PB&J in my lunch box. It’s nice in these weird, dreary economic times to go back and think of simpler times.

Here's what Wendy had to share this week:

What trying time I am having!!!
I am loving my diet but now I sitting at 147.  My body was so deprived for so long that my Dr. keeps telling me it is going to take time and I am not 27 anymore. Who wants to admit that to themselves.

I have been having blueberry french toast or oatmeal or my lemon ricotta crepe which I just love. They are all so yummy and filling. My dinners are wonderful too; I have to admit the Roast Beef is one of my favorites.

My stress levels keep going up now that I feel like the family is playing a waiting game but I now have support all around me.  I am starting a new med this week so I will let u know how that goes too.

They feel I starved my body for over 15 month and now that I am getting whole fresh good food my body does not want to let go until it know this is for real. I plan to keep eating this well and taking care of myself. It has been a long time since I cared for my body and mind. Going on this diet has really helped make a turn in my life for the better.

Thank you for all your kind comments they keep me going!!

My Gram is still with us and I am by her side everyday. I hold her hand and I am not turning to food for comfort, now I just go to the blog to know I am loved!!

Bless all of you
