My Favorite Halloween Memories…

- Mom making my costume out of what she had around the house & them being the best costumes ever!

- Picking out the biggest pillow case we had in hopes for large loot.

- Avoiding the house that passed out boxes of raisins and almonds in the shell. IN THE SHELL. Really?

- Waiting for the rain to stop before I could start.

- Having to eat an entire bowl of lentil soup before being allowed to walk out the door. Oh the tears!

- Actually being scared to walk up to a decorated house.

- It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

- Wigs made out of dyed mops.

- Carving pumpkins into Jack-O-Lanterns with just the old school triangle eyes and nose using a standard kitchen knife.

- Thinking that the fake spider webs were real.

- Separating all of my candy by type, then by what I liked most down to what I didn’t like at all.

- My dad taking all of the candy that he liked before I could eat any of it!

- My parents checking the wrappers for razor blades, wow sad.

- The weird, albeit, thought full “homemade” treats that no one is going to eat.

- The house that passed out soda!

- The house that passed out giant Hershey bars.

- My mom eating all of my Tootsie Rolls!

- Toasting pumpkin seeds in the oven.

- Wax Lips & Vampire Fangs.

- Eating candy until I was sick!

Happy Halloween!

Race for the Cure '09

On September 26th 2009, two of our customer service representatives Terri and Alysse took care of our VIP booth at the Race for the Cure held at Newport Beach's Fashion Island. This was our second year providing healthy snacks to the participants and the ladies had a wonderful time! They were blown away by how many people were there and the amount of support that was around them was unreal. They were inspired by all the different tee shirts, posters and beads that resembled survival and rememberance. They were given tee shirts and capes to show their support too! They can't wait to return next year for another great event! Way to go girls!

Our new 2010 menu update

What's Cooking at Susan's No Comments »

Typically we release our new menu every October, however this year we are pushing it back a couple months. We have so many new items that we don't know which ones to choose! We have been busy working on a new menu and we want to make it the best. We have taken all of our customer feedback and the expertise of our new Executive chef, James Brice and we are putting together the final pieces. We are hoping to release it by December so keep an eye out for it! Thank you for your patience!

Good to Know...

I am someone who rarely gets sick (knock on wood). Last time I was sick was last November on my birthday- it was horrible! I also don’t get the flu shot, take vitamins or pay attention to viruses that are floating around.

This year however, I am paying attention. I am also getting the flu shot. As for vitamins I am taking C, B complex, and 1000IU of D3. I read that taking 1000IU of D3 is really important in preventing the flu. Get some sun; this also is a good source of vitamin D.

A few good tips to avoid getting sick.  They seem really obvious, but sometimes that is when we overlook things...

-Vitamin D3

-Wash your hands

-Carry a hand sanitizer with you and use it every hour, keep in mind that this doesn’t replace washing your hands with soap and water

- Try not to touch your eyes, nose and mouth too much

-Eat a balanced diet & drink plenty of fluids

-Exercise

-Get enough rest

Keep yourself informed. You don’t want to get sick. Here are a couple of good websites to go to for information of the Seasonal Flu and H1N1 Flu:

Stay well!
